Re: Want the Best, Cheapest Easiest AIS solution:-)

I ended up purchasing the Vesper XB-8000 and have been using it for about a month now.

It was easy to install and configure.

The NMEA2000->WiFi Gateway is a very handy feature.
There are a few conversions that I would like to see added to the FW:

- I have a Garmin GWS10 and Neither Air temperature or barometric pressure are converted by the XB-8000.

- I have a Raymarine Autopilot connected to NMEA2000 and Rudder angle is not converted by the XB-8000.

- I would also like to see navigation data converted in the opposite direction (NMEA0183->NMEA2000) probably APB and XTE converted to NMEA2000 so the autopilot can steer to a route.

Earlier in the thread I mentioned some other ideas for this product:

- external alarm function (HighVSWR, CPA, TCPA, anchor drag...) It looks like the XB-8000 has the same hardware as the watchmate, so this might be easy to implement ?

- DSC calling, anchor alarm, GPS Navigator.

I have also had a very intermittent problem (once every few days of use) where the GMI10's on the network complain that they have lost contact with the GPS (XB-8000). The issue quickly resolves itself. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot ?

Hope to see continued development and improvement of the XB-8000 platform.

Cheers,
JM.

Thanks again JM for your suggestions and ideas. As I mentioned, we appreciate customer feedback to help prioritize NMEA2000->WiFi gateway capabilities so your input on specific instruments such as those is really helpful.

We haven't heard anything previously about GMI10 drop-outs. So if you have more info, would you please send it to us at support@vespermarine.com?
