West Marine AIS Display Problem

I have a West Marine AIS-1000 Class B Automatic Identification System which will not display AIS signals on my Raymarine a98 chartplotter. Strangely the AIS transponder was displaying signals on a Garmin plotter which I replaced with the Raymarine plotter. The wiring appears to be ok and the plotter does show signals from a Raymarine AIS receiver so I am using that to receive and am using the West Marine transponder as a transmitter only. I would prefer the Transponder to both send and receive so that I can remove the Raymarine receiver.
Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

Yes, I had a similar problem. You need to set up the Raymarine to receive high-speed baud inputs on one of the channels. The default is low-speed on all channels.
