What is best Boosted Wifi system?

What is best Boosted Wifi system?

Is the Rouge Wave system worth the $350 and will it really pull in a signal 7 miles away?

Re: What is best Boosted Wifi system?

I have used 5 mile wifi also expensive and the ubiquity bullet along with a couple of Chinese units from ebay. You might get 7 miles over open water but not a signal you could really use and you are not likely to see anything near that most of the time. Depends on the shore station as well and most of those are not high power. For the cost I like the bullet and it is hooked to a router so i am my own hot spot, good for laptops and other devices. Hope that adds bit of fuel to the fire that is about to start if I am right. This subject is like anchors lol

I'll second the Bullet, as long as you have some clue about programming wifi units and/or money is tight. The Rogue is a Bullet plus antenna, but has customized firmware that makes it easier for non-techies to use as a client, at more than double the price. Depending on the user either can be the best answer.

Ubiquiti Bullets are readily available online, and often at local wifi specialists. The best model to get for marine use is the relatively new Bullet Titanium, as it has a much better system for sealing the ethernet cable entry. The version you will want is the M2HP.

If you go with the Bullet you will have to arrange for the external ethernet cable (preferably shielded) and POE insertion device, along with a power supply. And you will need to find a 12dB antenna. Ask and I will get a source for the antenna.
