Which Iridium Phone ?

We're looking into buying a used iridium phone. Any suggestions on which make/models to look for? I've been scouting eBay but don't know which would be good. We'll use the phone in the Bahamas where we found quite a few places without phone coverage. Thanks!

The price for an iridium phone can vary significantly according to where you purchase it.

We got a price quote from West Marine to see how much an overpriced iridium phone would cost. We found ours for $400 less than the West Marine price.

Shop around. You could save some real money.

Have you considered Globalstar? I have no experience with it (I have used Iridium in the middle of the Pacific and it works) but the web sites for sales/rentals indicate Globalstar costs a lot less and covers the Bahamas, as well as Bermuda, the Caribbean, and the coastal areas of most continents except Africa and none of India... that is, unless you are crossing oceans, Globalstar might serve you well...
