Wind instrument buzzing

I recently moved my instruments from down in the lower parts of the cockpit into the new canopy roof. The wires etc. are the same length as before and I guess the only thing that has materially changed is that the signal wires are in the same trunking as power cables.

I now have an irritating buzz that emanates from the wind instrument that rises and falls as the needle moves from side to side. I have a short video that plays the sound but can’t get it uploaded?

Has anyone experienced this? Should I be worried about impending failure of the instrument? Maybe the close proximity of the power cables (including incoming from the solar array) is creating some kind of induction.

I know that some electronics require power lines to be twisted pairs but I don’t think I can achieve such a setup in this situation.

Re: Wind instrument buzzing

If you have raymarine ST60 series displays, i know that the power supply for the masthead transducer is inside the wind display itself and as they start going out, it emits a buzzing noise...

What make and model. Some power at the top, some power from below.
A bit more info will be very helpful.

Re: Wind instrument buzzing

Sorry, when I wrote to post I was going to post a picture which had the model etc. but never could download (video).

It is indeed a Raymarine ST60+ instrument.

Raytheon ST60 Digital Instruments Service Manual

https://webcache.googleusercontent.c...&ct=clnk&gl=ca

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/13...heon-St60.html

https://sysawadi.jimdofree.com/electronics/

➥ file:///C:/Users/gorda/AppData/Local/Temp/ST60%20Digital%20Instruments%20Service%20Manual.pd f

Links, like these, tend to disappear, so anyone with these instruments should download the Service Manual, while they can.
