Wire size for plotter & radar?

Hopefully a quick question this time... I'm installing a B&G Zeus2 9" with 3G radar and I can't seem to find the amperage draw anywhere in the manual or specs. I'm trying to choose the appropriate wire size. Why is this not listed? The unit will be about 15' from the panel panel.

I would pull 14awg for each to panel.

Or 10awg if you plan to pull one wire to a fuse block for both

Your manual should at least tell you the wattage of each piece of equipment in your system. Take the wattage and divide it by your voltage. This will give you your amperage draw.

Install everything in the sailboat, run a temporary power wire and hook up an amp meter or multimeter, turn on the power to measure amps. Or, call the manufacturer?

Check for tag on back of items for power requirements.

No tag anywhere nor does it say wattage or amperage in the installation manual or I wouldn't have asked. I called the company and they recommended 12 gauge wire for the 15 feet of wire length I need, although I used 10awg because I had extra. In retrospect, the inclusion of a 5A fuse with the plotter was a clue, but the exact power requirements were nowhere to be found.

Re: Wire size for plotter & radar?

3G radar :

Power Consumption 18W (Typ.) @ 13.8vDC
Power Consumption Standby 2W(Typ.) @ 13.8vDC~ only 150ma

The B&G Zeus2 - 9 only (weirdly enough) says "Low Power Consumption" which doesnt tell you anything really

Re: Wire size for plotter & radar?

Zeus2-9 Power consumption 11.8W ... it is in the installation manual (p39).

Bizarrely it's listed as a tiny bit less than the Zeus2-7 at 11.9W.
