Yacht Devices Gateway question.

I would like to connect my Garmin GPSMAP 185 Sounder to the Raymarine i70 / iTc-5 Backbone using a "Yacht Devices - Raymarine SeaTalk NG Compatible - NMEA 0183 Gateway YDNG-03".

From what I have read, this device will plug into a SeaTalk-ng Backbone T-Connector. Is this the proper way to connect this Gateway to the Backbone?

Since the GPS is only being used to provide data TO the Raymarine System, am I correct in thinking I only need to connect the Garmin GPSs Brown NMEA 0183 OUT wire to the Gateway TRANSMIT wire and attach the Gateway to a Backbone T-connector and DO NOT need to connect the GPSs Blue NMEA IN wire to the Gateway since I only need to provide data from the GPS to the i70 system or do both need connected to properly sync the systems ?
