Yeasu FT-840 Auto tuner

For my Yeasu FT-840 Ham, I have an MFJ-941E manual tuner. I'm wanting an auto-tuner these days. The 12 volt unit that Yeasu made was the FC-800 which is not longer available. I see MFJ make an auto-tuner which I'm assuming is generic to all HF transceivers. Has anyone tried these or any other brands that might work? I know Yeasu, Kenwood and Icom made their own specific ones but I'm sure they were basically all the same.

MFJ make well designed auto tuners that usually cost a bit less than the competition. They also have some that are weather sealed and suitable for remote mounting in a boat. One nice thing about them is that using a bias-t adapter you can send their 12 volt power to them on the coax so no extra cabling required. Some hams have felt their QC was not up to snuff but I have never had a problem with them myself and I've owned a number of their products.

Re: Yeasu FT-840 Auto tuner

I know that SGC are the ones that the serious hams talk about as being the best remote HF tuners available. They are a bit pricey though. I have used one on a boat but never used any of the competition.
