zero amp output Promatic Prosport 40 amp

set up is 3 gr 27 AGM's in house bank, 1 gr 27 for engine.
House bank dead, charger-- ProMatic Prosport 12 V 40 A reads normal output volts but zero amps. Bad battery, charger or what. House outlets dead but engine started fine. Generator shows power on preheat.
Bad charger,or battery? Keep it simple please, I'm no mechanic.

Charger shouldn't have any effect on battery output. But it may be giving an incorrect reading of voltage.

What's the actual voltage if you place a voltmeter across the battery terminals?

If volts are normal but there is no current, then either there is no load or no complete circuit.
If you are sure that there is some load supposedly connected, check the voltage between the incoming (positive side) wire and a known ground at all connections, switches and breakers to see at what point the circuit is broken.

Re: zero amp output Promatic Prosport 40 amp

if the battery is dead (low volts) and the charger shows normal voltage then the charger is not connected to the battery.... they have to be the same voltage if they are connected. either blown fuse or bad connection.

some chargers will not charge a very dead battery for safty reasons and you'd have to jump the battery to get the charger going.

Indeed.
