1/2W or 1/4W for the resistors on the Pypilot board?

Hello,

I am a newbie, trying to assemble the Pypilot myself, following Andreas's plan (https://github.com/AndreasW29/pypilo...solution-infos).

I am wondering if 1/4W is enough for the resistors on the Pypilot board (ranging from 430 Ω to 120 kΩ). It is not specified in his documentation of the parts. Many thanks!

Re: 1/2W or 1/4W for the resistors on the Pypilot board?

I dont know anything about the pypilot board but perhaps this will help.

Assuming the board runs on 12 volts and there is no circuitry on the board that would step up voltage then the most power dissipated by a resistor would be V^2/R = 12^2/490 = .29 watts. So perhaps the smaller resistors should be half watt. Anything over say 1000 ohms should be OK at 1/4 watt. You can calculate the resistance that would see exactly 1/4 watt but no need to push things, just make the smaller value resistors 1/2 watt.

If the board runs on 5 volts all should be good at 1/4 watt.
