AIS on OpenCPN

Hi,

Could anybody out there let me know where I can get some help to get my AIS (AIST 120 Unit) working with Opencpn on my mac.

The AIS is installed on the boat and and working as I can see the boat on Marine Traffic,

Look forward to hearing from you

All the best

Spike...
From your manual:
Quote:
Step 8 - USB Connection (optional)
The AIS transceiver is supplied with a USB port for connection to a PC or Mac. The USB connector can be connected directly to the USB port on the PC or Mac via the supplied USB cable.
Connect your USB cable and find out the USB port name. Read more about OCPN connections here:
https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...ections_window

The normal baud rate for AIS devices are 38 400.
And be sure to not have any other program, like proAIS, connected to the device at the same time as OCPN.
Good luck.

Re: AIS on OpenCPN

Hi Håkan

Thanks for the reply, Hope all's well up in Sweden.
I've plugged in the USB from the AIS, now I guess I need to find the USB port name, any idea where this may be ?
Also where would I put it when I find it ?

Sorry for the basic questions, I'm sure it is all very obvious to you.

Thanks for your help

All the best from Singapore

Re: AIS on OpenCPN

Spike,

Hakan did already mention the manual. It should answer your questions.

Under Options|Communication you have ports. Add one - serial - and use the drop dow list of ports to select the correct one. Baud rate 38400.
Apply.
