aisRX - working with EU AIS binary messages

https://github.com/Rasbats/aisRX_pi/...g/v0.4.0-beta1

Using the work in libais (Kurt Schwehr) an EU ais library was created.

I have been able to encode and decode EU RIS messages 25, 26, 41, 44 (DAC 200).

These messages are for EU Signal Stations, Bridge Clearances, Water Levels and Messages.

AFAIK none of these messages are yet transmitted in the wild. The repo aisTX was used to encode the messages. It may be "garbage in, garbage out"! A vdr text file is in the repo with the messages for Signal Station and Bridge Clearance.

If anyone has access to ais binary messages as a text file with AIVDM sentences please let us know. I am interested in the USA protocol for weather and tide/current reports amongst others.

Thanks.

Mike

Thanks Hakan. It looks as if others would find this useful. Can Coastal Explorer record an AIS stream of these messages?

Hakan ... Thanks.

The paper linked by Baikal has a sentence that could be a starting point

Re: aisRX - working with EU AIS binary messages

Hi Mike,

In that other thread that Hakan referenced, I also posted a link to a IMO document that documents many other AIS Binary Messages which you may also find useful.

BTW, The Coastal Explorer stuff that Baikal mentioned may be misleading as the images that were posted are of NOAA NDBC reports, which are quite different to the AIS binary messages containing meteorological data.
