Android OpenCPN and TCP/UDP

I'm a great fan of Opencpn
It has been working on the boat for years.
I've always upgraded and added new things to it.
I have got quite a few friends in our marina now running it.

I have just set up Kplex to take NMEA data (AIS) from a serial port on my main Linux PC.
Kplex then outputs in either TCP or UDP.
I then connect to my LAN over WiFi with my Samsung Android tablet running the Android version of OpenCPN (the official version).

I don't have any problems getting all it to work but after a period of time, the Samsung Android stops receiving TCP/UDP data. I' have tried both TCP and UDP separately - same problem,
Rebooting the Samsung Android gets it all going again.
Other Linux computers on the LAN work fine.
It only seems to be the Android that fails - after about 15 mins.

Any ideas?

OK thanks
I thought it was more of a general question.
I didn't think
I will post the question there.

Re: Android OpenCPN and TCP/UDP

Just to add to this thread and to "put it to bed".
Dave answered my reply on the Android forum.
The solution seems to be to use TCP rather than UDP.
It seems to me that the Android "times out" when receiving UDP.
Changing Kplex and the Android to TCP worked for me.

Maybe others reading this will find the above comments helpful
