Any thought on the Intel Compute Stick CS125 and DC monitors?

Haven't been using OpenCPN that much over the last few years since buying a boat with a commercial chart plotter. It's just been a backup on a netbook with a puck.

Now I want to go back to OpenCPN as my main chart plotter and was wondering what others thought of using a Intel Compute Stick CS125 to drive it along with a DC monitor of some sort. Running OpenCPN is really all I'd want to do with it.

Any suggestions for a monitor would be appreciated. Thinking of one, maybe 12-15", that can be switched from portrait to landscape.

Cheers and thanks.

We use a Xenarc remote monitor for our Simrad. Xenarc makes small screen, high resolution monitors and now offers a weather tolerant model. I made a custom weather box for ours. Five years and counting.

I think the world is still waiting for a waterproof, sunlight-readable DC monitor that's inexpensive.

Just asking - what's the attraction of using a Compute stick, as opposed to a single-board computer like a Raspberry Pi 3, or a secondhand laptop or netbook?

My need is something to run OpenCPN only, which RPi3 can do, but I like the idea having a bit more in the tank in case I want to run something that I haven't thought of.

I have netbooks and laptops, which I use now with OpenCPN, but they won't work with the permanent set up that I am setting up at the chart table.

I believe an Intel Nuc is a better value. Room for a hard drive, multiple monitors, so you can display OpenCPN in a number of places, more ports for serial connections and inexpensive.
