Have another look at the configuration.

Thanks Nahanni, I see a box to tick to repeat the alarm, but it would need to be configurable to select a different volume level or sound file to achieve the result of alerting the watch but not waking the off watch crew first alarm, to wake the dead volume for the second alarm. All in all it's a good effort and perhaps if I make my own wav file that increases in volume over 2 minutes it might work ok.

Are we looking at the same version?

The first deadman alarm can be configured with a quiet tone to remind the onwatch crew to check the nav computer, the alarm can be repeated. The second deadman alarm can be configured to a sound that would wake the offwatch. Also, commands external to OpenCPN can be triggered by either alarm.

It's a very useful plugin if you are running your nav computer during passages.

Cheers,
JM.

Re: Are there any app developers here?

Thanks again. That is different to the one I just tried. I downloaded it from a link on the opencpn page via sound forge. I wonder where the newer one is located?
Thanks again for everyone's input!

I'm using one for the Beta version of OpenCpn, but I think you can get one for version 4.0 here:

Let me know if you can't find quite what you are looking for- I'm a sw engineer and could whip up what you've described so far in no time.

I have been thinking it'd be neat to watchdog the autopilot when single handing, if I fell off the boat she'll only go 5 min? Maybe a quarter mile? Might give you a fighting chance, hehe.

Re: Are there any app developers here?

Good idea Chris. Not too hard to implement I guess. You could even implement an AIS MOB alert amount other things.
Btw, for some reason the watchdog alarm isn't working. It seems a bit buggy. I unstick the command box and it keeps re ticking it and the alarm doesn't go off. Maybe a reboot or something might help.

The command thing is a bug, you just have to keep turning it off if you are not using it; I reported it, probably fixed soon.

Other than that, it's working for me. Did you enable the alarm ? There are several enable options:

Re: Are there any app developers here?

Just an update. The squido plugin seems to has all the features required. Email position reports etc, map sharing on blog, free..
