Re: Beta Test / Technical

That's a good idea Sean. Not so sure I could do it. Currently we have to browse and then remove the extra 'opencpn' that is added. So we would need a conditional to be added somewhere which would perhaps be if parallel install then the 'opencpn' is not added.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

That would also have to be part of the button logic. I am trying to figure out where in nsis this logic is put?

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Latest 4.1.718 build from git (14-August-2015) has issues at least under Win 8.1 where the piano keys go missing about 50% of the time. The mouse roll-over shows the chart file descriptions so the keys are there but just invisible. Don't know which merge created this problem. It wasn't like this a couple of weeks ago.

Gerhard,

Not sure. On my machine OpenGL doesn't appear to be available (option check box is grey).

Update: I was running with -no_opengl option which is why the check box is grey. Removed that option and turned on OpenGL. Behavior is almost same. Except with OpenGL the chart descriptions do not show up either. With OpenGL off the descriptions show but not the piano keys. With OpenGL nothing shows in the chart bar.

This is the log file (-no_opengl):

Gerhard,

It seems to be not as big an issue when OpenGL is enabled. I see it a lot with -no_opengl. But with OpenGL enabled the chart bar will eventually come back and seems to stay. But as soon as I run with -no_opengl then it disappears about 75% of the time.

OK, same here. It seems it has to do with changes in the code of 'seandepagnier-rendered_chartbar' introduced some time ago. Dave has a long experience fixing Sean's bugs and hopefully will do it again.

(Is this known? Is this the right place to post?)

For some time on OSX with latest clean build beta OpenCPN + WeatherFax plugin quitting OpenCPN SEGVs in the WeatherFax plugin, even when I haven't used the plugin.

Code:

/usr/local/bin/ is not the corect place to store applications at Mac OS X.
Please store applications at /Applications/ folder to avoid problems with supplementary files some applications create, need or store.

I do "make install" from OpenCPN/build. That must be the wrong way to install beta code - what's the right way?

And that comment doesn't address the error.

I don't use command line tools for Mac OS X like cmake, gcc or the such. Apple has its own compiler environment called Xcode. The Mac world is different than the Linux world even both have Unix roots.

Dan, could you try switching the style to journeyman and tell us if the chartbar is still invisible?

The problem does not exist with journeyman style. Chart bar is visible again.

Could you try this patch:
Code:
diff --git a/src/chcanv.cpp b/src/chcanv.cpp

--- a/src/chcanv.cpp
+++ b/src/chcanv.cpp

     ocpnStyle::Style* style = g_StyleManager->GetCurrentStyle();
     if(!style->chartStatusWindowTransparent && g_bShowChartBar)

Sorry for the trouble, something is clearly very strange on windows vs linux and I think it is probably wxRegion code.
