Re: Beta Test / Technical

Thanks for the confirmation Manfred. Not a Beta issue, I am running 5.8.4-+1637C28 plugin API 118, Dashboard 1.2, on MacOS 11.7.10 Hopefully we have uncovered enough info for the devs to investigate. If not, I am available for more probing and reports...

@Aldebaran17

Leamas determined that for RPI to have plugins with O5.9, you first must install O5.8.4, install the plugins, and then install 05.9 on top, which leaves you with the plugins (this will be fixed obviously in later 5.9 versions). Perhaps the same is true for MacOS?

Since I have you guys here:
@Dave: how did you manage to install plugins in O5.9. on the Mac. I downloaded the install package from cloudsmith, however then O only starts in safe mode (plugins disabled) and the plugin-manager does not show me anything to install. Could you please tell me which file from the beta repository you did install on your Mac

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Could you make a change, such that you can modify the circle around the lights to just a plain light like the buoys? It was like that on raster Canadian and US Charts for decade. Sorry for Scandinavian, but if we can choose between the two, it would be nice. Many thanks.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Dave.. Manfred..
This may be MacOS dependent in some way. As said I can't reproduce. Dashboard read what OCPN main reports to plugins about cursor position and its relation to the ship symbol. On the other hand is the Os reporting to OCPN about the cursor. If I read correct your false angle problem is only there when a mouse button is pressed?

In general all chart symbols does follow the ENC standards. What kind of object do you refer to? -"circle around the lights"- is quite unclear. Could you image by a shot-picture?

That looks like a light house with a white 360° sector with some kind of characterization?

Re: Beta Test / Technical

It is a light on a wharf and also all the range lights are like that. That should not be represented like that and it should be like on the raster Canadian and US charts. Light like a buoy.
I could not make them understand that the charts should look the same raster or vector, because of some European fellows.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

OpenCPN will portray the object as coded in the chart. It will not invent anything. That's why: what does the Object Query tell about the light?

It seem like you might be somewhat mistaken, raster and vector charts are not supposed to look the same.

That the display used by OpenCPN is correct is simple to confirm by looking at the official NOAA ENC chart viewer, which I did for you.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

I know that since they have started doing the Vector Charts. In my opinion the vector charts light symbol should be as close as the raster charts, but it seems that the `buraucrate` don't get it. Someone in the upper atmosphere as decided so. It would be nice if somebody could provide an alternative. (By the way I was among the first bunch to use ECS 32 years ago, so I know what I am taking about). Many thanks for your reply.
