Yes,you are right,the fault only appears in OpenCPN.
I have testet SeaClear,MaxSea as well as Fugawi Marine ENC and they all show up correctly. No doubt Dave will fix this easily when he returns.

Since Dave started work on the currently published patches, I think this should be frozen until a stable situation emerges.
For the really keen testers, I've temporarily put a cumulative source patch for download from Jacht Bryza H (small link at the bottom of the page). It's not one file, however.

Good luck and thanks for feedback.

5. click right mouse button on the chart, select End Route
crash

Just for the record, I appended the statement

m_pMouseRoute = NULL;

to the switch cases handling ID_RT_MENU_DELETE and ID_RT_MENU_DELETEALL in file chcanv.cpp.
This seems to solve the problem.
Pjotr, I tested your scenario. OpenCPN certainly crashes. Feels like deja vu, I thought we had this bug before, maybe a regression? I'm to lazy to find out, this minute.
Good fix though, I recompiled , and it works. No more crashes. Good Work!

Live GIS Disc - OSGeo Wiki
use from a web browser was set up via click2try.com for last year's 2.0 release, but hasn't been done (yet?) for the new 3.0 release (out now!). We had an experimental online VMWare server running during development but it was a bit flaky and I don't think that was meant for public use. You can of course download the Virtual Machine version and run it within VirtualBox or VMWare if you like. I tried mounting the ISO version with qemu but it got a bit stuck at the login page. Creating a live (& persistent) USB stick from the LiveDVD worked great though.

OpenCpn and miniPC

Hi all ,
I just bought a mini notebook to use with OpenCpn on board . (HP CQ 10 with a N270 cpu)
I am a little bit disappointed , the performances seams to be low , specially when wheel scrolling . Sometime , the system blocks and I have to wait one or two seconds .
The worth is when using grib function . With a bigger scale than 1/1.000000 , it becomes almost unusable . With a 1/20000 scale , I get systematically a crash .
(Unusable means its impossible to move the map , change the grib line and the cursor data are not updated in a reasonable time .)
Did any one experienced that problem ?

If navigation is the main purpose for the netbook, then a change of OS to a stripped XP is possible. Tiny XP rev 09 will work and will use a lot less resources of CPU power and RAM memory

Why not try puppylinux as I have suggested in the portable opencpn thread? It live boots from usb stick (~100mb only)so you dont even have to install to try it out and you can keep your windoze intact. Since it runs in ram my eeepc seems just as fast as on the desktop and most programs load in a blink of eye!

There is even a sail pup derrivative ( download ~300mb) with 10 pre installed nav programs incl opencpn: AIS Konsole, capcode, Gebabel,Google earth, GPSDUSB, GPSTrans, Mariner, openCPN, radarplot, Xtide, zyGrib -Also esoterics such as weather fax, hamfax as well as most of the usual programs you need) Only problem - it has German titles .

Another derrivative is dpup which has the speed and brevity of puppylinux but also allows installation of any program in the ubuntu repositories. Its this one I'm just about to install to hd. Initially I'll use the other pups from a usb live boot until I can individually install the nav programs.

I bought the netbook for nav as it consumes so little power and thus can be left on all the time (and at the price can afford to have another as backup)

Hi, I am new but wil seriously test the Beta Version 2.1.0 Build 331 on an XP SP3 operating system. On board (see Tintel) I have used PC nav software for over ten years.
I am familiar with Tsunamis (which I have used most, the official licenced version), Maxsea (the crack), SOB and others.

Your opensource version is wonderfull. I imported the CM93 set without a hitch.
The first thing I liked is that you seem to be the only program that clearly indicates the year of the chart data so the user is aware at least of how old that data is.

In the Beta version this info does not show up somehow, which is the first remark I have.

I will make notes on board and publish comment (hopefully usefull)

Hello Peter, nice boat you got there. The chart year should display on the beta also, it just goes away when you activate "quilting" for raster charts as the software isn't sure what chart you're looking at (since it's displaying several at a time).

Hello,

I have found opencpn and found it pretty well. While testing with ubuntu and windows xp I had the same problem.

No chart was available (chart directory in opencpn deleted). Starting opencpn and right mouse click. In Windows and Ubuntu the program crashes. Changing the following lines in chcanvas.cpp at line 5320 it doesn´t crash anymore.
Code:
ChartBase *pChartTest = m_pQuilt->GetChartAtPix(wxPoint(x, y));
if(pChartTest != NULL) { // 2010.05.04
if(pChartTest->m_ChartFamily == CHART_FAMILY_VECTOR )
pdef_menu->Append ( ID_DEF_MENU_QUERY, _( "Object Query" ) );
} // 2010.05.04
else// 2010.05.04
{
parent_frame->SetStatusText(_("No Chart loaded!")); // 2010.05.04
delete pdef_menu; // 2010.05.04
return; // 2010.05.04
} // 2010.05.04
}
I don´t know the details of opencpn so I´m not sure about the consequence. But I hope it helps to find the mistake.

Greetings
Andreas
