Re: Beta Test / Technical

Dave...Sean...
My black squares are no longer an issue.

I started to trace them down in comments first from top and stepwise down in history a couple of commits, the blacks where there all the time. Then I decided to change strategy and work myself upwards instead. I started from “Improve android physical screen size estimator” from Mars 23. No blacks. Then I tested each and every commit all the way up to current commit. Sometimes I had to comment out the “inlines…." in triangular.h but the blacks didn’t occur again! And since then I haven’t seen them again.
I also don’t use Dave’s patch anymore.

Now I’m very shamed having fooled others to bother and trying to solve a non existing problem. I must be a bad tester! It should be me or my PC that caused this? And I can’t explain why the blacks didn’t appear again. Any hint is of course good to be able to learn more. What I may have learned so far is to really test more on other machines before raising an issue.

Thanks Håkan

Good eye

Thanks

Re: Beta Test / Technical

How to send error report.

Using OpenCPN 4.0. on Windows XP SP3.
OpenCPN crashes.
How to send error report (crash dump) to developers in order to find the reason for crashing of OpenCPN.
EmailCrashReport=1 does not help

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Dave

I have tested today's git, first using wx2.8.12. No problem.
Then changing to wx 3.0.0. No problem. This was the first time I've managed to compile O using wx3.
As expected I got a load of warnings for incompatible plugins.
So it looks like a smooth transition thanks to you and Pavel!

Thanks
Thomas

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Thomas & all...
I have just finished the changes to Compiling - Windows | Official OpenCPN Homepage
I would really appreciate some proofreading (especially from people who have to stay with old Windows and VS2010 for their development)
Note: There will be a new issue of the binary support files later during the weekend, so if you don't desperately need to start building right now, you can save yourself a 5MB download...

Thanks

Pavel

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Source builders...
The build support packages are now updated with everything you should need to build and package OpenCPN.
Visual Studio 2013 version: Download opencpnplugins from SourceForge.net
Visual Studio 2010 version: Download opencpnplugins from SourceForge.net

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Win XP VS2010
Release and package Build - OK

Running the new 4.1.427:
The plugin incompatible test is hanging in a loop, see screen shot, the message box and "next or previous" plugin is loaded continuously. OCPN has to be terminated.
The loop is initiated when the incompatible plugin is activated.
A not activated plugin creates a message when I click the tools icon and then the message is working.

The log file loops here:
Code:
15:37:27: Incompatible PlugIn detected: C:\Program\OpenCPN\plugins\chartdldr_pi.dll
15:37:27: PlugInManager searching for PlugIns in location C:\Program\OpenCPN\plugins
15:37:27: PlugInManager: Loading PlugIn: C:\Program\OpenCPN\plugins\br24radar_pi.dll
15:37:27: C:\Program\OpenCPN\plugins\br24radar_pi.dll
              API Version detected: 110

15:37:27: Opencpn language reload for: sv_SE
15:37:27: Loading catalog for: opencpn-br24radar_pi
This plugin is, so far, not compatible for me:
chartdldr_pi

These are compatible:
Dashboard_pi
Grib_pi
WMM_pi
launcher_pi
br24radar_pi
VDR_pi (The one fetched today)

Re: Beta Test / Technical

And now with WX3.0 are my AIS target names using a green font again, even when using OpenGl - nice!

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Strange behavior!
OCPN 4.1.427
Built on WinXP by VC2010
Runs on Win7-32
Charts CM93

See screen shots:
The small scale is as normal. On the surroundings objects like heading line and others are drawn but not deleted when not actual anymore?
Picture 1 after some minutes and 2 after some time. If zoom or move the chart it goes back to normal.

The Dashboard:
The depth graph is exchanged by the wind instrument!.
Also on the screen shots. (Djup = Depth)

Hakan....

re: strange pictures:
Cannot reproduce so far. No AIS traffic moving at 0200 GMT.
Is this OpenGL mode, or standard mode?

Thanks
Dave

But a heading line is maybe visible all the time, if you have that?

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Dave....more:
I think I've seen a similar, but opposite, behavior before, also with overlay objects.
Sometimes, while moored, when I start my radar and the first picture is to be drawn nothing is visible until the chart is moved or redrawn for other reasons.
When the boat is not moving there is no need for a canvas update. But could it be that a overlay needs that update to "take away" what's not valid anymore?
