Br24 radar plugin - radar window disappeared

Hi
Hoping anyone can help me.
I'm running radar via the Br24 plugin. Works like a charm. Today we closed the radar window via the cross in the upper rigt instead of clicking the plugin-icon. now I cant get the window back.Tried to disable and enable the plugin, restart program and reboot computer. It still remembers that the window is closed, and I cant get the menu up to "Show window" again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Delete your .initial file and configure OpenCPN again. Alternatively, edit the .initial file to find the radar section and delete only that section. Happened to me many times.

Keep a copy of the .ini file for analysis if you want that somebody might use your observations for debugging.
And post it here.

Sorted. Turns out you get the option "radar control" when you right-click in the map...


Thanks for the .ini tip tho, might come in handy later on.

Yes you found the solution but you can also use the BR24Radar icon in the tools bar. Click it ones or twice.

This did not work. The button did *something*, but radar window and controls remained hidden.

For me it works as follows:
If the radar connection is not established only the "Radar Info" is shown. That is the info status box for IP connection and the other necessities.

Once connected the radar control would show up.
In radar control you can select to view the radar window, also called the PPI window.


It may be my first answer was slightly quick. You're talking about the PPI window and now you can't get it back after the "cross-X" closing, right?
What happens if you click "Radar Window" in the radar control menu?

Both the Radar Control window and the PPI window was cross-X closed. The radar icon on the toolbar does not bring any of them back up. This is consistent, and regardless of the radar transmitting or not. Radar is connected tho. The icon only brings back the windows if the icon was used to remove them as well.

As long as one of the windows is visible I can use it to get the other one up no problem.


With the radar disconnected/turned off I get the Radar info, same as you (and a question mark on the icon in the toolbar).

But the OCPN right mouse click menu to open the radar control is still there and functional, right?

What's below relates to OS-Windows:
I'm sorry there is not much development help for BR24Radar_pi for the moment. We are busy on the new plugin called radar_pi. See: https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/radar_pi
And we are working against OCPN alfa 5.0, that's current OCPN master, so the Windows binaries available are only working on OCPN version 4.99.0

If you are able to build from source or install OCPN 4.99 you can give radar_pi a try. https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/radar_pi/releases
(Note!-- if you run O4.99.0 all other plugins, except inbound, have to be rebuilt for 4.99 as well.)

Yes, right-click open Radar Control works fine. This is what saved me as soon as I discovered it.


I'll look into the new plugin, but dont think I will risk much alpha/beta testing atm as we are out crusing and I sort of need stability on the main computer

Hi,

I can confirm this.
When I started playing around with the plugin a few months ago I had the same "Problem".

Solution as described.
Other solution was to deinstall and install the plugin (I used the Linux Version on a raspberry).
