Canadian chart options for OpenCPN

Is the only one option for getting Canadian charts working on OpenCPN to purchase them from the Canadian Government (through a distributor)? This seems like it would be very expensive. No other options?

Can the charts from the Canadian government be used in regular chart plotters (like Garmin or B&G)?

Not looking to complain about the high price of Canadian Government charts (tempting as that is).

The Canadian CHS based vector charts will be getting available for OpenCPN in the coming week.

We are testing and will release very soon.

The more than 1100 charts will be devided into 4 sets (Pacific, Great Lakes & St.L, Atlantic & St.L Gulf, Arctic).
The oeSENC sets will be at 20€/30CAD/22,50USD each incl. one year of monthly updates.

Wow, that seems too good to be true. Where should I be looking to know
when they are released.
