Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

celestial_navigation_pi-1.10-ov3.2.2-d-win32.exe
under 3.2.2 PI Win

has been recompiled with Sean's modifications.
I have tested it and color and reverse names are fixed.

Can I now close all of the FS items listed above?

1440 can be closed.
1450 can be closed.
1447 can be closed (however, rgb indication doesn't show the user in a direct way what color it represents).

1461 is still not 100% solved. If dates are changed, at the next start up the month and the day are wrong (august 4 becomes april 8). A second start up makes everything correct again.

1440 happened again ...

To me, it now seems to be a problem in display of sight data. After clicking and closing each sight, everything showed normal again.

Attached article "Determining the Position and Motion of a Vessel from Celestial Observations" might be interesting for Sean.

Perhaps we could limit the palette of colors that can be selected to 16 and have Names which would make it so much easier?

Thanks.

Closed: FS#1450 : Change of COP is not possible after entry and date entry problem
Closed: FS#1447 : Change color, color name does not change in menu.
Would prefer to see color selection limited to 16 named colors.

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

After adding new entries, I find that the old entry parameters were change to rgb settings which is correct, and new entries show color names. It appears the plugin will assign a standard color parameter and provide a familiar color name provided you don't select some custom color.

I think the color selection is working fine now.

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

NAV
After deleting all sight entries and starting over, I have tried to get the plugin to do
FS#1440 : Fix reversing order Sight entry
FS#1461 : Dates entered as e.g. 1957-08-04 (august 4, 1957) is changed by plugin after restart to 1957-04-08
and I have been unsuccessful. I believe these items can be closed now in FS.

Would there be any need for saving a group of "sights" as a simple file so they can be recalled later by importing or opening the text file? This would permit each group of sights to be saved with a name.

Or does the "eye" feature provide enough flexibility?

I think we should add your article
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1622363

to the documentation, since that writeup appears to be the direction Sean wanted to go.

This problem seems to be solved now, after uninstalling the previous version, and installing the latest version of the plugin.

I still experience bug FS#1440 : Fix reversing order Sight entry.

An overview giving the fix position and the fix accuracy figure together with the observation and reduction data and maybe some intermittent calculation values would be a plus (all data for a single fix in one overview).

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

Here is a great thread. Well worth reading to understand where differences come from.
Nav is any of it applicable here?
