Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

RE: Opencpn CRASH upon entry of second FIX.

Sean, I went back as far as I had saved celestial_navigation_pi and they all had that problem. So then I compiled the current one as DEBUG and copied the dll and data directories over to MS VS++ and tried the plugin in Debug mode.

I was able to enter many FIXES. There was no error or problem whatsoevere. So where does that leave us? See attached.

I think I am going to try a fresh download again. Then see.

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

No, a fresh download did not fix it. The plugin complies with no errors, It installs and can be enabled. This time as soon as I touch the cel_nav icon, Opencpn fails, poof disappears off the screen. Its wierd.

What opencpn.lib should be used? I don't believe there are any deoendencies. What would cause such a sudden failure (no windows notice or searching for a solution). Why such an error when it compiles with no errors and installs, and the debug version works?

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

Sean the celnav plugin works when used in debug mode with MSVC++ but does NOT work as release version in windows. It crashes opencpn.

Dont know if you have found the problem or not, but posting my experience when having same problem on unrelated code.

Long time ago, but there were several posts on the internet about this.
It is not the fault of your program, but has to do with the linking.

From what I remember the linker was including some lib/dll that would be left out of the release link.

About all that i remember of it.

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

Nicor

So you're suggesting that with the standalone version when compiled for windows, there is some lib missing, either in the paths or in the files that is automatically a part of the Msvc++ compile

So next we need to determine which lib it is and how to fix the standalone compilation.

Thanks, for your suggestion.

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/...-otherwise-not

That post is from 7 years ago, about the same time i ran into same problem.
Don't remember that post.

After thinking about it for a tad, I still think it was the linker doing/not doing something...

Start with that link first and work and work from there.

I do hope u find the problem

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

.... I am as well a victim of this problem - only one sighting can be entered when entering the second sighting OpenCPN crashes. So, hopefully we (you) find this problem, as this is a very useful plugin, as all of Sean's plugins are - I use them all and find them to be the most useful additions to OpenCPN - this way - thank you Sean a lot for all the work you are doing!!!
Best regards, Uwe

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

I am thinking it has something to do with cmake config perhaps?
