Changing Ship Icon

Hello All,

I'm trying to change the ownship default icon using this procedure...

https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/info/usericons.html

I am running OCPN on Win10.

The ship icon is from the S/V Revelations own ship icons.

There is no opencpn.ini file on my entire hard drive.

I created the UserIcon Directory here...

C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\UserIcons

I transferred the desired icon to this directory. Did not work.

I found the ownship.xpm file and copied the icon I wish to use to this directory and renamed to ownship.png. Did not work.

Is there a different procedure? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Program files (x86)
Programdata
UserIcons
ownship.png
Insert your ownship.png into a sub directory:-UserIcons
Then:- Tools, Options, Ships
change to bitmap real scale
adjust the size of the ship icon.

Yes there is.
As described in https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/info/usericons.html
Click on the ? About OpenCPN Toolbar and click on the "Config File"
It exists under C:\ProgramData\opencpn and may be hidden.

Your kidding me right? Hidden Directory? This is a bad programming practice. I've wasted a lot of time trying to figure this out. UPDATE THE PROCEDURE.

Thank you for the information I guess.

You should address your concern to Microsoft. That is the culprit.

Ship Icon Changed - Can not get it changed back.

My ship icon suddenly changed yesterday and I can not figure how or why. It is now a gun sight icon ( circle overlaying a cross).

I am running Window 10. I have uninstalled and deleted all opencpn files from Program Files (x86) and ProgramData. Deleted the Charts directory and rebooted the computer. Several times. I have copied a .png file into Program Files > OpenCPN > UserIcons folder and verified that it is a vessel image.

I have closed OpenCPN, rebooted the computer, opened OpenCPN, chand changed the Options > Ships > ShipIcon Type to Real Scale Bitmaps and entered a length (10) and width (8) and minimum (8),

The icon is still the dun sight icon.

Any thoughts what to do now?
