I looked into listed OpenCPN Chart Sources

Tried Argentina SHN - Servicio de Hidrografía Naval
And find they appear to be charging now. Need to change on OpenCPN chart sources now?

I have some charts for BSB_Argentina_Rio la Plata
and I also had saved all of the SHN H series in 2012. Perhaps there is a good way to put those up on a website? - labeled as 2012 perhaps...

I don't think there is any need to change anything, the charts are still free and linked from the first page where you get after clicking on the link.
And yes, SHN also sells paper charts (the page you linked in your post).

I tried Columbia, and these ENC S57 files were in a zip file that popped up to download. So in Chartdldr I tried "Add" new Source. "Custom"
Name = Columbia
Url = http://www.cioh.org.co/index.php?opt...0A%20%20%20%20 (after right click copy link from Opencpn webpage)
Destination Path = C:\ProgramData\opencpn\Charts\ENC\Columbia <---made this by right click Create new folder.
Then hit "OK" I could see the source header.

Then tried hitting "Update" for the Source, perhaps I should not have, because it disappeared.

Then I tried doing the same as above, and even though the "Columbia" source header says (Please update...) I decided to try "Download" to see if it would download and unpack the zip file even if there is no xml chart file available. The plugin just says "No charts available for download" but the Columbia source does not disappear.

Perhaps this kind of operation is not possible.

Trying to run this with OpenCPN 4 on Windows. I download the dll from the first post and drop it in my plugins folder it doesn't seem to be recognized by OpenCPN? I see references to it being on the plugins page but if it's there I can't find it.

The DLL from the first post is a several years old prototype. If you want to help, please test the latest version from opencpnplugins - Browse /chartdldr_pi at SourceForge.net

Thanks, that fixed it. It would be nice if these threads updated the first post with the latest and greatest info. I checked all 8 pages before posting but missed it.

It's a little frustrating to try and figure out what to add to the source list when all the descriptions are truncated. I guess you need to get a USCG district map out and cross reference, but that seems counter-intuitive to making that pulldown box wider?

I just decided to download the whole ENC and RNC catalog from NOAA than try and sort through it. Besides, we never know which way the wind will take us!

Well, it would be nice if it was possible to edit the old posts. But it isn't. You have to get used to read the tail first.

I'm having trouble getting the downloader icon to appear in the menu bar.

- This plugin adds no icon to a "menubar" (whatever it is).
- You do not have to move anything anywhere manually when installing it. Really.
- Once enabled, it adds a new tab to the Charts section of your Toolbox
- There will be instructions, do not worry - a very preliminary version of them is at https://github.com/rgleason/chartdld...w-OpenCPN-user And as you seem to be a perfect candidate to show us if they work, I would really appreciate your feedback.
