Good question Paul. Well,.. GE don't show the reef with a sat pic, but has marked it manually, pretty much on the official position. The kiwi chart, as shown in OpenCPN is off a bit from the Fijian official position. Red cross below = GE, green cross = chart NZ14605.

Yellow Pages-Norway have now added a marvellous new chart service to their website. Normal road maps,Nautical maps of Norway and most of Sweden plus scew-angle aerial photos of selected Norwegian cities.

There is no download facility but capturing strips off the screen for later assembly and conversion to .kap produces excellent navigational maps. One important feature is the ability to geo-reference ANY point on the map by right clicking the mouse.

I have suggested they add the ability to let the user define the area of interest as well as the scale before being allowed to download. Depends whether the Norwegian Charting Authorities ,who are the suppliers of the charts, will allow this. It would be in a similar way to that used by Noni Map.

Yes! Now we are waiting for somebody in a small country south of Norway and west of Sweden to do the same

Yellow Pages nautical maps of Norway and Sweden

Great maps from YellowPages-Norway..

Best if you have a large display screen to capture the desired area and then calibrate/convert to .kap format as no download facility is presently available.

New Zealand Charts, CHARTCAL-V27, June 2010

Hello. Here is new version of New Zealand Charts Portfolio for you. Changes from V26 to V27 involve 9 upgraded maps plus 1 NEW map

In the latest month LINZ has released NTMs and updates affecting 8 charts:

NZ5214, NZ5215, NZ5215_1, NZ5318, NZ5318_1, NZ53, NZ531, NZ534

I also corrected map NZ8248 for wrong ID and a small alignement.

LINZ has released a new tiff map: NZ5219. Now we have 321 charts in NZ set

If you want all upgrades above, download the new ChartCal-V27 ( MCE66 - Software ) and rebuild with KapGen all the changed/new charts (but first delete the tif files of the above list of maps from /Img folder if you have already downloaded or built them).

Of course you can also just download the already built charts file or the charts upgrade file you can find at the same location ( MCE66 - Software )

Let me know. Ciao, Marco.

thanks Marco!

had a good chance to try them out last week around the fjords and southern end of things. All were spot-on target and well received by the crew (who all wanted a copy).

regards,
Hamish

[n.b. the chart in the photo is actually custom job, not one of yours, but your ones were well used in other places]

Just discovered this great free chart source via Google. The charts are in .jpg and also in .map format for OziExplorer.

NZ releases updated Vava'u Chart.

Good news for all cŕuisers in the South Pacific, NZ in May 2010 released a new edition of chart NZ822 (T822). Large parts of this chart are based on new surveys from 2008. These parts, of course, are those, essential for commercial shipping.

For now, you have to convert this chart on your own, but it will likely be included in Marco's next update (?)

On another note, it is a real pleasure to convert these NZ charts. The quality of the pictures are top notch, and OpenCPN does a very good job of displaying this Transverse Mercator Chart. OpenCpn has come a long way in the last year when it comes to displaying both Mercator and Transverse Mercator Charts. Though, there is still the issue with Tmercs and quilting, to be solved.

Ciao.

There are a lot of new and updated charts released by LINZ in the last months. I'll include all of them in next NZ package release in a week or two.

Ciao, Marco.
