Charts not scrolling fwd when route making

Open cpn 5.2 win 10 laptop and remote monitor.

when creating a new route I noticed on y monitor which I operate as a remote monitor, i.e. wireless mouse. laptop is in cabinet, after placing a couple of waypts on the chart I wanted to move onto the next set of charts to continue the route, all I could get was a few inches and then the chart screen went back to the first set of charts, seemed to be no way out, unless I stopped the route and then went to next chart set and ? appended the extension. Is there a way to overcome this restriction ?

mcm..
The chart scrolling when the pointer is close to a screen edge while making a route is working fine for me. Well, not when auto follow - look ahead mode is active. Then the screen is moved back to the look ahead mode position after some seconds. Could that be the reason for you?

Correct, however another issue,,autopilot nav sentences, APA does not show as an available sentence in opencpn menu box ?
Comnav autopilot wants it.

Re: Charts not scrolling fwd when route making

mcm..
The (obsolete) APA is not sent by OCPN while navigation a route. That's correct. But the same info is included in RMB and APB and reading a Comnav manual these sentences are understood as well.
When I read the manual the APA is understood but not explicitly needed?
What problem do you see when the APA is not included?

Re: Charts not scrolling fwd when route making

Comnav is telling me that GPS cog and heading have nothing to do with steering to waypoint, it all compass related, so, we did an adjustment on line and now my autopilot will not steer to anywhere without massive left or right turns..I followed the manual but support did something different and now the mess..I realize their manual did not stress APA but did mention it specifically, I thought when steering to a w.p. that the gps signal was critical to maintaining xte within the tight boundaries required, perhaps am wrong.

Re: Charts not scrolling fwd when route making

mcm..
Many things in the air here.
The AP (AutoPilot) won't need COG, SOG (and Heading) but OCPN does need them to calculate the course to steer to a WP to send to the AP.
When you start a "Navigate to ..(by a route or direct to a WP)" the AP NMEA messages, e.g. RMB APB,XTE, will be sent to any OCPN output connection. The AP needs to be connected to such an OCPN output connection.
To be able to calculate e.g. XTE OCPN does need a GPS to know the position, COG and SOG.
The AP would then be happy with the (EC)RMB and more adapted for the WP to steer to. Once you've started a "Navigate to.." in OCPN you can activated the NAV mode on the AP.

Note: The Comnav AP may have a strange setting to alter left or right on the XTE message. If it steers on a counter course check that!

Re: Charts not scrolling fwd when route making

Yes, understood, this is where I have the issue with the tech support, I was on sea trial and wanting to activate steer to a waypoint first time on opencpn, I had the 3 sentences installed as per help file but wanted to be sure I was doing it right, the manual said the compass error could be as much as 180 deg out, note, the pilot would steer great on normal operation. Tech support got me to adjust the compass by close to 100 deg, this did steer to the w.p. but, on return journey via diff route, the pilot went nuts on all settings. Am going to pay a visit to the tech support guy 1 hours drive from my res. as the pilot is basically inoperative. will report in a week or two..

This one I don't understand. "Installed"? Where?
Once you activate a "Navigate to.." the ECRMC--RMB--APB--XTE will be directed to an output connection. Nothing there to do except wire the connection.
