Terry

I don't think there is any distortion.

Take the wind rose nearest to Mindanao.
% of calm: 1 %

North-East: 56%, 2 barbs (= tails of arrow)

East: 29%, 1 barb
North : 2 barbs
South-East: 1 barb
South: 1 barb

Yes, I should have said the large digits distort the wind rose or at least make them difficult to see. A change from previous versions.

Sorry for the wrong choice of words.

Re: Climatology

The large digits are a problem that I have noticed too. I tried to find out where that was set in the settings or options, but have not found it, so I expect it is either using an internal font setting, or possibly the Opencpn font settings (unlikely).

I think we can call this a bug because it obscures the meaning of the wind rose and makes the user interface more difficult to read.

I think I would like a separate options setting for the user to adjust the font size.

Does it happen in Linux too?
Does anyone want to enter this into Tracker or the Github Issues section?

Flyspray #2542 in OpenCPN00 Feature Request. Is this the correct one?

Re: Climatology

Hello,

Here are two screenshots. The oldest is from 2015, with an older version of Climatlogy (using CM93). The second date of today with O5.0 (Wihout any chart, only GSHHS).
I made sure to show the same geographical area on the same date of January 25th.

1)
Clearly, the readability of the second is not obvious. The data:
- do not seem to appear where they should appear
- seem to display with too much character size.
It is difficult to use.

2 °)
I take this opportunity to recall another bug that I already mentioned.

Look at the Climatology window that appears at the bottom right of each screenshot.

IN 2015, we could easily know if it was January 25th or January 5th.
Now it's very difficult to know, because the small area where the number of the day is displayed no longer has the right width.

3°)
I added a comment in # 2542 with the two screenshots

Re: Climatology

Hello Sean,

In my recent tests with the version put online by RGLeason in the post #447, http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post2858001, I chose to use a display with two canvas.

Climatology is always displayed in both canvas. This makes the interest of having two canvas less interesting.
Admittedly, we can choose different zoom levels between the canvas on the left and the right and it may be interesting to keep the display of Climatology in both canvas.
But this interest is not always real.

It would be necessary to be able to display Climatology, only in a single canvas, as with Grib. Knowing that Grib only displays data to the right while the grib window is only displayed on the left.

It might be convenient to do the same with Climatology.

Re: Climatology

Hello,

A little extra detail abnormal.

Currently, in the main OpenCPN icon bar, the Climatology icon has a white background and turns green when Climatology is started.

Normally, it should return to the white background icon when Climatology is stopped.

But that does not happen. The green icon is displayed until the next Climatology start.

Re: Climatology

Hi,

after I now can use OC5 on my rpi3b+ I played around with my plugins witch I used with the oc4.8.8
One of them is the climatology plugin.

With the new plugin for OC5 installed from the ppa (xenial) there was a Problem with the second package the data package.
After adding the precise ppa in the sources.list I can install the plugin via the ppa.
But since yet I did´n´t get any roses on the Display. With oc4.8.8 no Problem

Regards

Andreas

Re: Climatology bug being addressed?

Is the Climatology bug (Flyspray #2542) being addressed?

Bug: Large fonts obscure the wind rose.

Re: Climatology

With Stelian and Uwe's help we just got weatherfax working better and updated the xml files.

Climatology is next.
1. Need to be able to adjust the size of the the wind number.
2. Need to fix the icons so they are greyscale and operate better.

Who can provide greyscal svg icons?

Re: Climatology

The attached patch seems to do the trick for the numbers size at least on Windows.

Please test it on windows since I can tell from the screenshots posted above that the rendering is not exactly the same...

Rick ..
But it won't download missing data files.
And won't abort so have to close the program using Task Manager.

Rick,

The link in your post leads to a page on GitHub.com saying:
Quote:
climatology_pi-1.4.1-ov50-win32
rgleason released this on Mar 1 · 2 commits to master since this release
Opencpn ov50 and 4.99MUI with wxWidgets 3.1.2
Works with ov50 Weather_routing_pi and Grib_pi now
Updated to include binary data files for windows users.
Updated to fix the wind rose font size for windows users.

Assets
3

climatology_pi-1.4.1-ov50-win32.exe
403 KB

Source code
(zip)

Source code
(tar.gz)
The "rgleason released this on Mar 1" implies that this release is dated a little over a month old. Also, the "403 KB" for the download size is too small to contain the climatology data. With the data it should be about 5,642 KB.
