pirate cm93 Charts - No Detail Visible

I have just loaded Open CPN on a laptop running Windows 7 (64-bit) and added CM93 charts. There is no detail visible for the Brisbane river, just a grey river and an overzoom message but if I open the same charts using Maxsea there is a lot of detail available. Is there a setting I can change to sort this out?

Toolbox, vector charts - and make sure that you have all the boxes ticked .. I have seen OpenCPN default to having all the chart objects turned off for some reason!

Hi Hooroo!

Click here to download a blurb about Chart Detail in OpenCPN.

Re: cm93 Charts - No Detail Visible

Maybe OpenCPN does not yet 'see' the charts. Did you follow all the instructions for loading new charts? There are chart folders and files listed under Toobox-->Charts ?

Re: cm93 Charts - No Detail Visible

hooroo,
sorry if it seems redundant help ...
but while you were in the Toolbox/ Vector Charts tab, you tried the zoom detail slider too? and Ticked " Mariners Standard"? and then "Select all"...? One hopes for an easy fix, if they work fine in Maxsea.

Also, you might see if openCPN is reporting any problem loading your cm93s by checking "opencpn.log" (the location of which is at the bottom of the About page that first shows when you click the "?" on the toolbar)
If nothing works, don't give up! That's how bugs are found and improvements made!

added: I find up the river near Brisbane o be similar to lolarose's example but I must be careful where I pan and how I zoom in and then mine loses detail when I've panned past southBrisbane Reach-Victoria Bridge...

Re: cm93 Charts - No Detail Visible

of course there is no, because this is comercial navigation software not for pleasure boats. there is no details because there is no facilities or not enugh deep or to narrow for comercial shipping or big vesels are not allowed to go further up the river or canal.

same reason you do not have drying hights to the shoreline or over sand banks or rocks. who is going with 2000000000000000000000 tons tanker over sand bank or 10 meters from the shore of river bank. for those kind of "boats" there not enough deep anyway even on spring tides. you are simply avoiding it

Re: cm93 Charts - No Detail Visible

nonam..There are many versions. I have an old version of cm93 (2004) and it shows Kaneohe Bay pretty well.but yes it's possible to have an incomplete set. I know because mine is funky in Newfoundland .... My settings are near-same as 'F54's. The "size" of the cm93 folder I have is 955mb..

But ( faint hope) Are you sure you are hitting that "+" key enough? Sometimes the Overzoom note is wrong and you can zoom past it...

There are many versions. Check if you have the following chart in your CM93 version
03340606.F in folder F within Folder 03300600

BTW With quilting disabled, you can display the chart ref by mouse pointing at the yellow bar at the bottom of the screen
