CM93 Updates

Hi All
Bit of a problem with cm93 which someone with pc knowledge may know how to fix.
Im using cm93 charts which i downloaded for free off the internet. I can also get hold of the update cds through the work i do, but i dont know how to update the charts?? is it a matter of transfering files to folders, or is there a programme i could use to update?? any help would be greatly appreciated

You can download the 2011 version of CM93 v2.
I believe somebody somewhere is still updating them.

Many thanks Tore, i have 2012 update dvd roms but unsure how to add them to the cm93 chart files im using???

Bri,

If the DVD size is greater then 1 or 1.5 gigabytes then I suspect that you do a replacement to update the charts. Less then that you would do a file by file replacement. It might be as simple as doing a windows file copy to the old chart directories with "overwrite all" selected. But without seeing what is on the DVD it is really hard to say for sure what need to be done.

Many thanks for the reply's guys, i'll try and copy and paste the files over, overwriting the existing ones and see how i get on. the charts in question are cm93-3 chart corrections.
Just didnt know if there would be a hidden registration file somewhere on the disc

NO STOP! Don't do that :-) CM93/3 files will wreck your CM93/2 install.
The update is for a different product.

I have a little suspicion the charts you are talking about, as the name cm93-3 suggest are the encrypted version 3 of the CM93 charts, which do not work with OpenCPN at all due to the proprietary obfuscation mechanisms used...

Many thanks everyone, just realised that the charts i am using are infact cm93-2! therefore, couple of questions, are these still in use and if so, how could i get the corrections for them.

The latest version of cm93 v2 is from January 2011. There is a version marked August 2011 on the internet, but if you open it you find maps from 2008.
You won't find corrections for v2 maps, you just have to wait until a more recent version "pops up" on the web.

whrere can we download the latest version of CM93V2, and we search it from the internet,then we can find the 2012edition but I don't know how to download, what's more, by the way where and how to download the cm93v3 edition. really appreciated

Basically the only CM93 v2 out on the internet are "pirated", if you want them, you'll need to google search, usually they are in compressed format (rar), you will most likely need a torrent program to download the file/s.
CM93 v 3 i not available as a free download. Jepsens most likely did not like the v2 being freely available. v3 charts are encrypted. The DVD on which the charts are stored is very cheap, but you'll need to purchase a license key for each cell you want to use. So far as I am aware, the license key is machine specific.
We have 2 ECDIS systems on board using C MAP Pro. We need to purchase two license keys to unlock the cells on each ECDIS
