Comm Ports O 5.6.2 Win 7

I am experiencing some issues with comm ports on latest version. Never was an issue previously but limited internet so can't test older version.

OCPN Ver 5.6.2
OS Win 7

Prolific USB to 2 x Serial ports splitter (not new).

The Prolific shows up correctly as P,,,,, COM9 (GPS, 4800) and P,,,,, COM10 (AIS, 32800) but additionally COM9 shows up in the send to GPS drop down.

The result is an intermittent send route to GPS fault. Sometimes no WP's, sometimes a couple of WP's, sometimes all WP's.

Checked the windows comm port settings and a OS reboot or OCP restart sometimes resolves the issue on occasion.

I remember there was some special programming to support transfer to GARMIN GPS's to overcome various proprietary issues. Wondered if this has been changed in the latest version or whether I should be looking for a solution in Win 7 settings.

Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

Ignore previous message. There was a broken wire within the data cable, every time the wires connected Windows created a new Comm Port.
