Re: Cuba Charts

Using the S-63 Plug-in for OpenCPN you can license the official charts for Cuba from Chartworld.

There a 14 cells/charts available. From the legend latest updates from 2013 and 2014.
If you go for a 3 month license period they are at 5.63€/ea.

Re: Cuba Charts

Rick,

no, they don't disappear (imagine a tanker where the company has forgotten to renew the license..):
you won't get automatic updates anymore and there is a warning in place the the charts are outdated and must not be used for navigation - that is the same as using paper charts without updating them.

And as ENCs are not valid as the sole medium for navigation for pleasure crafts anyhow...

Re: Cuba Charts

Rick... They don't turn off. Ever.
The licensing period means for how long you receive the updates.

Re: Cuba Charts

Used to be some good Russian produced charts (many years ago). I ordered them thru Bluewater Books & Charts.

Re: Cuba Charts

Hi. I started to download these charts, but I got two warnings -- one that the preview didn't work, and the other that the files could not be scanned for viruses. Are you sure that these files are safe to download?

Also, I did go to Chartworld and purchase 3 Cuba maps, the only ones they had of the south shore. Unfortunately, the scale is way too small to be of use, even in the city harbour of Santiago de Cuba. Amazingly, CM93 had a much better chart there. Oh, well, there goes another 20 euros! Cheers

Thanks to all for your suggestions. This last set looks really promising.
