Custom Gauges

Hi Guys,

Does anyone have any information on the use of custom gauges within open CPN.
I want to be able to display engine RPM as a bar graph, obtaining the data via serial port.
The incoming data will not be standard format. so i would need a way to alter how the bar graph reacts to certain data.

If you could point me in the right direction that would be great.

You can't do this in OpenCPN unless you write a plugin yourself. Best to use a third party app to display this stuff.

You might look at signalk; it supports a lot of gauges.

I don't think nmea0183 supports "engine RPM" not sure what the point of this gauge is. The dashboard supports many useful gauges like speed over ground.
