Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

Hans, here is TransmitterDan's response and suggestion to use VDRplayer to filter vdr files. The User Manual also has it VDRplayer

Quote:
Rick, filtering is applied to incoming streams as you suspected. VDR does not generate a stream. You can use my VDRplayer tool to play a NMEA file. Then filters will work.
Filters are applied on a per-stream basis. Filters are not global. This is by design because we need the ability to filter one message from a stream but allow that message from another stream.
VDR is a plug-in and so doesn't appear to O as a stream. It just kicks out API messages.
Use my Python tool and you will be simulating very close to the real world.

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

Rick!

What are all these links saying ?
You can't calculate TWS/TWD when STW =0 ?

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

I tried your original file in NavMonPc to see what is happening better. When HDG is set to use COG True and Apparent wind direction and speed follow each other nicely with some very small differences. There appears to be a small current in SOG. The boat seems to have a change in direction COG at times. played at 10x speed.

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

Now I can't seem to get Dashboard_tactics to show both Apparent and True, even with Force true wind calc. checked. Any thoughts? Note: The boat moves around quite a bit changing heading and moving somewhat. Hold your cursor over the boat.

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

Rick,

You are quite right. If I set SOG instead of STW I get th True Heading and speed displayed. Although COG disappears once in a while.

Is this the way it's supposed to work ? Isn't more difficult to display True wind when the COG wanders all around ?

As you say the boat seem to move around quite a bit- I don't know if this is normal. I can't test this on the AIS/GPS in the boat I am staying in. I am in the middle of an installation.

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

Ok, by setting Preferences to
1. Checked - Use SOG instead of STW for true wind.
2. Unchecked - Force true wind calculation

And restarting everything, the plugin starts working correctly.
The true and apparent wind angles follow each other pretty closely but not identically.
There is no damping set for either one.
The boat's heading changes quite a bit, note that I have VDR speed set high!

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

Petri has responded very quickly.

Quote:
Regarding your SOG=0 question, I presume this is the same as the requirement #84 which I can see that I have implemented and tested in the 19th of October, 2019, in #85. Please take a look, maybe that helps, there seems to be a test report which you can compare to your own use case, perhaps.
His full response is here and Hans, he linked to this development diagram
which is pretty clear, we should probably be using the mnt151 branch for right now.

Hans this report is very through and I think it should answer your question.

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

I would appreciate some assistance or suggestions on how to make space for entry of values in the last tab of Preferences. I believe this would be done in dashboard_pi.h and used to use wxFormBuilder, but there is no fdb file. I would just like to added enough space the allow entry of values, so editing the .h file would be easier.
https://github.com/rgleason/dashboar...cs_pi/issues/7

Advice please?

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

I notice that the timeout for Barometric pressure is way to short.
The Barometric pressure changes very slowly and the timeout is something like 3 seconds. A Barometric pressure, even 5 minutes after you received a valid pressure will be almost the same.

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

I think that can be changed in the code, but it was discussed, how long to make it. Suggest you find the discussion in the Testing notes. You've been there and know where to look. See links from Petri below.

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

BTW we are very lucky to have a timer, Petri has taken time and effort to add the timer because it is very necessary for history graphs and it is a very complete implementation. The standard Dashboard has none of this.
