Issue with MNEA0183 sentences

Hi,

Can't get the dashboard to display the NMEA sentences beginning with $IIxx.

I am pussel by the fact that the NMEA Debug Window has those but neither the OpenCPN Debugger or the Dashboard does.

Had the same problem with the previous version of the Dashboard.

Am I doing something wrong or its a bug I should report to OpenCPN ?

As far as I know there is no repository for Raspbian/Stretch. So you probably have to build it yourself from github sources.

Had to put my glasses on....

Not sure where your NMEA 183 sentences with $II prefix are derived from, but it appears as though they are missing the checksum character.

OpenCPN & the plugins most certainly work with $II prefix as the TwoCan plugin converts NMEA 2000 messages to NMEA 183 sentences with $II prefix and they are consumed by OpenCPN and the plugins correctly.

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

Agree with stevead..
OCPN don't care about the talker, e.g. II.
The gadget with the II talker is not sending a checksum.
Unfortunately the "Use checksum" option in "Connections" has no impact when not checked. Could you persuade your II talker to use a checksum?

Hakan, just ticked OFF the "Use checksum" option in "Connections" and OpenCPN 5.0 does let through these sentences...The Dashboard-Tactics is now showing the data...strange that others have reported this not working

FYI my gadget box not providing checksum is the old Autohelm NMEA Bridge connected to Raymarine ST60 instruments and Autohelm T300 course computer via Seatalk1. Hopes this info might be useful to others.

Will test shorthly if Autohelm T300 course computer NMEA output have checksum or not.

Well, I'm one of those saying the no checksum switch wasn't working. So I must have tested on strings with other failures. Thanks for your positive report.

Some device has options for using checksum or not. You may check for that?
Thanks
Håkan

Not every version of Linux has a package online. There are too many versions of Linux. You have Raspbian Stretch correct? I can build a plugin package for Stretch if you like.

You can try getting a debian package for Raspbian/Stretch here:

https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/dan-...51-1_armhf.deb

You should be able to install this with dpkg. Let me know if it works for you or not.

Note: This will not work on other distro such as Raspbian Buster.
