Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

Is there a plan to merge tactics with dashboard-tactics?
Thx,
Don

We have several plugins that do more or less the same thing.
- DashBoard,
- Tactics,
- DashboardTactic,

Without forgetting :
- Engine Dashboard

STOP STOP STOP : Only one plugin should do.

No doubt it would be necessary to improve the ergonomics of the parameters screen that wu can open with the plugin manager and that would be better.

Gille, no they don't.

1.Dashboard - original set of instruments.
2. Tactics - Sailing performance instruments.
3. Dashboardtactics - Joins Dashboard and Tactics (Engine information for 1 engine)

We had an opportunity to replace Dashboard with Dashboardtactics, but that decision was never made. Thus there are 3 versions now and they are diverging, so it will get even more confusing to you. This version of Dashboardtactics attempted to follow Dashboard but now Hakan has made improvements to Dashboard (by adding signalK) that are not in the released version of Dashboardtactics. Additionally, Dashboardtactics has a development branch which is not yet released which takes instrumentation to another level.

I would like to see a dramatic improvement in the graphics, fonts and gauges and the flexibility to adjust display.

......
That said, I understand that on these plugins, there is competition between the developers ...
This species of human being is quite rare, thank you to them for donating their work to OpenCPN.

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

You are quite right, but Thomas Rauch (tactics) and Petri (dashboardtactics) actually cooperated extensively and collaboratively on the plugins.

In the release version of dashboardtactics each instrument was tested and improved, then those improvements were moved back to tactics. There was also work done in the orher direction.

Petri has taken the development version to a new place.

Sorry, but the installation of version 1.6.5.0 does not work. Take a look at the screenshot: Version 0.0.0.0. And the line never activates.

And the icon of this plugin has disappeared from the vertical icon bar.

I was able to go back to version 1.6.3.0.

Sum log did not work in dashboard on 4.8.8, so I assume there was a fix applied to dashboard between then and now, that did not make it to dashboard tactics.
Bump. I think my post might have been lost within another discussion.

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

It wasn't, see the screenshots below where sum & total log is working.
What I haven't figured out is how to reset these. Do you know? I havent found reset log in preferences. Maybe you just edit the opencpn.ini file.

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

Rick,
Isn't it so that all information in Dasboard (old and 'modified/extended' variants) are simply displaying NMEA0183 input data, hence the sum and total logs can not be reset within O? Or have I missed something?

Re: Dashboard-Tactics (Dash T)

Yes, thank you Lennart. I lost track of the schema.

@Gille

BTW, I just Hit "Update Plugin Catalog: Master" to clear all the "Import Plugins" and the Dashboardtactics_pi went to "0.0.0"
Now when you click on that plugin you are offered an option to "Downgrade" so I downgraded to 1.6.3.0 which works ok, and now I am back to the drawing boards insofar as updating the mnt151 branch which is more current.

Hopefully more later on this.

The logs are reset from my instrument. Raymarine i50. Dashboard simply displays the log from NMEA. When I get back to the boat tonight I could grab the specific sentence if you need it.

No need Whoylbee, but thanks. I have the sentence in a number of VDR files.
