Dashboardsk Issue

I’m running Opencpn within Openplotter on a RPi 4. Opencpn is set to get its data from the Signalk server on the same Pi. I want to try Dashboardsk to improve the display of on the move information in Opencpn.
I can download the plugin but the preferences box is greyed out and inoperable so I can get no further. If I remove and reinstall this happens very quickly with the message that it has installed from the cache. Still unable to access preferences though even if it becomes clickable. If I then restart Opencpn the plug is no longer installed. So it seems to me that it fails to install properly but I have no idea why. As an aside, possibly related, I find Opencpn tends to become unresponsive if left with no external input for too long. The only option then is to shut the power off and restart it. Some suggest that power issues can cause poor performance but as it the only only device powered from a usb power source with five outlets, I’m not convinced that’s the problem. I’d really appreciate any help with the dashboardsk issue and if there are any tips for improving the overall performance of Opencpn on the Pi I’d be very grateful.
