Display concern Ver. 5 in Xubuntu 20.04

I have a problem with displaying the menu bar on the left since V4.8, it continues with versions 5 of OpenCPN and I have not found a thread on this subject or a solution.
When I point to one of the icons on the left menu bar I never see the text presenting the icon (and saying what it is or does), I only have a straight line of ' underline 'and this both in a reduced window and in full screen.
I am under Xubuntu 20.04 updated, OpenCPN V5.2.4 updated.
Ideas?

What you describe is probably a Xubuntu problem.

There are some known problems with Xubuntu 20.04. For example,

Known Issues

Users with AMD graphics may experience significant graphical issues and should consider waiting until the release of 20.04.1 later this year.

Window decorations are not displayed with tightvncserver. Users depending on VNC are advised to wait until 20.04.1 or use an alternative window manager for VNC until this is resolved.

I've not an AMD graphics, an Intel graphic card is on my Dell, and My Xubuntu is the latest version, 20.04.1 LTS, focal.


And this display problem is only on those menu bar, no other problem.
I'll continue to search...
