Display Issues - Lines in Screen

Running newest version of OpenCPN on Windows 10.

Screen now has horizontal lines running across it. It looks this same way without any charts, waypoints, or tracks loaded.

Microsoft has probably "updated" your graphical driver to a version that don't handle OpenGL very well. Check the website for the manufacturer of the Graphical card, and see if a newer/better driver is available.

That was the issue. I'm not sure what I can do about the driver (government managed computer) but I was able to get around it.



I unchecked the "Use accelerated graphics (Open GL)" button under Display > Advanced tab and we are back in business.

Not only Microsoft but other companies as well will abandon OpenGL in the future. It seems OpenGL will be replaced by Vulkan the next generation OpenGL. For most operation systems MoltenVK is available which emulates Vulkan. It is time to think of a OpenGL replacement for OpenCPN and how to fix such a switch.
