Dual Canvas Layout Synchronisation

Is it possible to set up the dual canvas so that moving one, moves the other? With the centres synchronised to the same Lat and Long?
This would be useful when route planning, so that one view shows the overall route and the other shows the zoomed in detail.

If you mean the split screen display in OpenCPN, you choose the type of chart you want to show in each one than hit the three short lines in each of the windows and click on follow boat.

Both charts move with the boat centered, even at different zoom levels.

Yes that is a useful feature, but I was meaning when route planning at home.

Just to add, synchronizing the canvases to anything else but the boat position is currently not possible, but I consider the use case you outlined very valid, please feel free to file a feature request for it at http://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN/issues/
