Dual opencpn

Hello everyone,
I am facing a problem,
I want to use 2 opencpn at the same time and have them fully synchronized. One would be in the cabin on a windows or linux pc, the other would be in the outside cockpit on a hardened windows pc.
The idea is to have exactly the same information, commands and graphics on the 2 machines.
I am using SignalK over RPI to make this work.
Today it works but for example my route only appears on the PC where I created it and I only have the position of the boat on the remote machine. Communication is done in ip between the 2.
Basically I would like to have a real master / slave relationship between the 2. Thank you in advance

Best Regards

Re: Dual opencpn

That's what Windows or Chrome Remote Desktop and TightVNC, RealVNC, UltraVNC etc are designed for.

Run OpenCPN (or anything else) on the server machine, control it from either server or client machine.

(Oh, BTW, apparenty we're not allowed to say master/slave any more in the IT world, like blacklist/whitelist they are not PC terms and we might offend some poor sensitive soul. ).

Re: Dual opencpn

Hi Stum,
Tks for your answers
My architecture is something else :
Server : signalk on rpi
Client n1 : desktop with opencpn installed
Client n2 : tablet with opencpn installed

I want that the both opencpn have the same design in real time (trace/route/command...). Today i only have the vessel good position on the 2nd opencpn.

I don’t want use remote or vnc system.

BR

Re: Dual opencpn

PC1: small mini PC with dual monitor ports at navstation connected via Ethernet to Radar and a NMEA2000 to Ethernet converter for GPS, Instruments and AIS. Like this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/XCY-X41-i5-...cAAOSwN45fLRci

One Monitor at navstation. Another Monitor at the helm, IP67 (with or without touchscreen) like:

https://www.alibaba.com/product-deta...1c0d32a8YG5kQi

Only one device that needs to be maintained and for which you have to buy charts......
not expensive, so have a second one in the drawer and/or another one serving as a media centre.....

Regards,

OpenCPN is not designed for two installations to act in a master/slave configuration.

No one has ever accused me of being PC. If they do, I will probably blacklist them.
