file naming for tracks and routes

The schema is good for naming un named routes and tracks. Date first with year preceeding month. great.
BUT
when i come to edit the name, the date is immediately erased, which I dont want.
When I enter the date as it was originally auto generated, the track/route the sorts to a different place in the list. why?

It would be great to have that auto generated date available somewhere so it could be copy pasted, or just dont erase it.

Is this forum the place for these questions / suggestions?
