I used the version form there first, som minor bugs but well it works. I take same site at the opencpn a week ago. Using CMake works great for me to make the binary.

I took the liberty to make my cvs branch autosync from the offical cvs, so hopefully it always be the latest and greatest form csv within hours.

What is the current git tree location? I tried what is on the opencpn web site documentation and am unable to download he source?

The master is still the Git repo at Sourceforge as the docs say and it works right now as far as I can tell. Most likely you've hit one of the SF's finer moments...
If you keep having problems, feel free to clone from my tree at Github: https://github.com/nohal/OpenCPN - most of the time it's in sync with the master (and a couple of other dev's trees)
