GoodAnchorage.com Plugin – Alpha Release

This plugin is intended for OpenCpn version 4.0. Initially it worked with earlier versions but the functionality requires 4.0 and related plugin api.

Without making too many changes I tried to correct a few things:

_T("...") is for non-translatable strings, and _("...") for ones that should be translated.

Thank you. Merged the changes. Didn't realize there was a locale specific translation in wxString.

Works much better.
Double click anchor icon turns green icons download.
Right click on an anchor icon > Properties shows link.
Turn off internet
Double click or click on anchor and anchor icon turns red.
Double click again and anchorages show. Double click on an anchorage and properties comes up with message about more detail available with internet in the description area.

I think it is working nicely.

How can we tweak the url of My account | Good Anchorage to supply latitude and longitude?

Also it might be useful to supply the date time and depth as these may be available from track data.

Maybe something like:
My account | Good Anchorage

could this work?


How can we request a radius for querying waypoints? Is there some way we can request an entire "area" ?

We currently have a process to receive anchorage information via an online form - members want much more than just the name - date / depth ( units ) & lat and long ( format) - hmm ... parsing a very long URL ...

Dietmar, It might be very useful to be able to enter login name and pass into the plugin and be able to add or edit anchorages. Similar to Squiddio.

Well, if you could do just lat and lon it would be a great start.

Then we can talk about ways to directly fill everything out from the plugin.


I wonder, is there a forum on goodanchorage.com for questions? There are some feature requests I might suggest for the website itself.

Thank you Boat Alexandra - the best way to let us know about feature requests for the website is to email us directly via the contact form Contact Us | Good Anchorage or email me directly dietmar (at) goodanchorage (dot) com- there are a several items on the list already ( imagine that ) thanks to a lot alpha and beta testers.
OpenCPN is a very important part of this as well as it is extremely helpful in most of the rest of the world where WGS 84 datum is less than 50% of the charts.
