Graphing plugin

Is there a graphing plugin for OpenCPN?
I am thinking something quite customiseable to graph winds, boat speeds, depths, maybe even some AIS data?

I know there is VDR, and the plots plugin, but I am thinking more about graphing boat performance data. Plots plugin seems a bit limited.

Cheers

Al

Re: Graphing plugin

I'd be interested in that too. Especially a live graph showing windspeed and direction over time would be great.

Should be intuitive to use though.
Like right click, or Icon click to see the graphs.

I do run NavMonPC for that, which is great, but inside OpenCPN would be easier to set up regarding ports and more convenient as it's only one software which needs to run.

NavMonPC has a good interface to visualize different time frames and windranges. A plugin with similar features for that would be perfect for my use.

DashboardSK plugin's histogram instrument can graph history of absolutely anything. Is it enough for your usecase? I do not know, but if it is not, file a feature request for an instrument that is.

Hi,

thanks. Interesting.

Still, I only have 0183 sentences coming in.

On the normal dashboard I get true and apparent wind angle and direction, location and depth.

What I'd like to see graphed are windspeed & angle over time. Ideally true and apparent.

Don't seem to get all that data into the NSK plugin.
Any suggestions how to easily fix that?

I'm not a programmer and will not want to change my working setup in terms of hardware.
At last its working so far.
It's a Raymarine ST5000+ Autopilot, a ST40 wind instrument, an Amec 108 AIS and a Garmin Fishfinder 250.
A Shipmodul Miniplex 3 collects all data and delivers it to OpenCPN.

You don't see course and depth in the attached screenshot, as we are at anchor & the depth sensor is not in the water.

Thank you. Click image for larger version

Re: Graphing plugin

You do not need to touch your hardware to set up a real Signal K server, there even is an installer package for Windows

Adding a new sentence translation to the NSK plugin does not exactly need any extraordinary programming skills and is explained in https://github.com/nohal/nsk_pi/blob...ce-translation. More sentences will not magically add themselves, either I do it when I don't have anything more interesting to do, or someone else, like you.

Thanks.

I had a look at the github. Setting up is looking a bit daunting to me.
For you it looks very simple, for me not so much (no idea about programming).

I'll stick to NavMonPC for now.

Thanks for your input though.

Re: Graphing plugin

Try the Dashboard or Dashboard-Tactics plug-ins.

Re: Graphing plugin

Thanks everyone.

Turned out the "Graphs" Plug-in does exactly what I need. No need for Signal K in this case.
Graph shows various values over time.
