Grib File download with airmail ?

1/ Can Airmail (winlink) be setup as the default email client in windows10 so that a grib request from OpenCPN will go there automatically ? If so, How ?

2/ Currently I am trying to copy the grib request to paste into an email, but I can not seem to select it. The selection disappears when I move the mouse.

You need to associate MAILTO protocol to Airmail

Control Panel> Default Programs> Associate a File Type or Protocol

Protocols are at the bottom of the list. Find MAILTO and change to Airmail.

Of course all send to email from other programs will go to Airmail.

win10 Settings search default apps.
You'll want to set it back when ashore probably.

Then you have to make sure O and plugin are using the default email.
Have forgotten how that's done.

I don't think that you can set Airmail as the default app as it is a stand alone application and Windows in not aware of it.

The work around that I use is to set up Airmail's mail server feature and use Thunderbird or Outlook (I have had good results with both,) as the default mail client.

OCPN sends the msg via the default client and Airmail acts as the server. There are detailed instruction on setting up airmail as the server in Airmail's help or the Sailmail pages - it's pretty painless.

Otherwise cut and paste works for me.

OK, will try the airmail mail server.

Not sure what is going on with cut and paste. I tried it on Win10 and Linix and with two different keyboards. When I try to select the formatted message for the grib request, the selection keeps disappearing before I can copy it.
Is everyone else able to select from that message area?

OK. I'll put it on my list

Just realised that the OP said "two different keyboards" - I cut and paste with the mouse and have not tried selecting with the key board.

I highlight with the mouse and use CTRL+C to copy and CTRL+V to paste.

Perhaps there is glitch with keyboard selection, but I'm too tired to test right now .. of to bed zzzzzzzzzzz

Mouse or keyboard.

Soon after the text is selected (reverse video) the selected text reverts to unselected, before I can cut or copy it.

I have the same problem when attempting to copy text from the "Write and send eMail request" dialog in the Grib plugin. I am running Windows 10 (Anniversary Update) on a notebook with a 64-bit CPU.

My builds of OpenCPN from clones of the Master branch on GitHub with commits made on 20 May 2016 and earlier behave as expected for the select and copy from the text box. I can copy the text to the clipboard.

Builds from the Master branch after 22 May 2016 do not copy the selected text. The selection made with a mouse or touchpad is reset before Ctrl-C is keyed. Also, "Select All" from the right-click menu seems to do nothing, and "Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete" remain faded out.

Also, the 4.2.1 Beta Windows version from GRIB2 branch has the same problem with select and copy of the Mail text. This was released on 09 Mar 2016 with a link in this post:

I have posted a new github commit correcting several problems noted in this thread. It is available on github as branch "GRIB2".

I have also built a Windows installer, and uploaded it as before. Here is the link.

Re: Grib File download with airmail ?

workaround=let it make a grib request to your normal mail client, and then cut from there to paste into airmail.

Just noticed this in flyspray.

A workaround -> Once you are happy with the area select "manual selection" and you can cut & paste using the mouse as normal.
