Re: Help computer locks up.

You definately have a software conflict going on,,try setting up a virtual drive on your Computer if all else fails.
The CP Gurus will come to the rescue pretty soon,,hang in there!!!

Re: Help computer locks up.

I have Parallels with Windows running OpenCpn and that works fine. But I am trying to
run OpenCpn on my Mac without Windows. Do you think I should delete Parallels and Windows first and then try to run OpenCpn?

That sounds a bit drastic. It's seems unlikely that the windows OCPN install inside the parallels VM has anything to do with the native OSX install. More likely some other conflict.

Make life easier for the OSX guys around by specifying your environment details: OSX version, hardware spec, especially what I/O ports you are using for serial I/O. What OCPN version did you install and how?

Re: Help computer locks up.

I am using a MacBook Pro 11" with OX 10.7.4, Lion, I tried downloading OpenCpn 3.0 It did not work so I deleted it and reinstalled it 3 times. Nothing worked. What are I/O ports and
serial I/O?

Re: Help computer locks up.

Since you're asking, it sounds like you are not using any NMEA or AIS devices connected to any I/O ports? Those would be the primary suspects for locking up the computer. (I/O device = input/output device, serial I/O is what happens on your USB ports )

It would appear that if OCPN locks up your computer even without using any I/O device, you might have some other kind of problem with your OSX install.

Bump. Still need help. Opencpn is now working but the CM93 charts will not open. It flashes on for a second and then quits.

Publish your log file here. It's the only way to see what's up.

Re: Help computer locks up.

CM93v2 charts are only available from hacker sites. Often these sites spreads malware, so be warned. CM93v3 charts does not work with OCPN.

Since you live in the US, try to use the NOAA ENC charts instead. See:
Chart Sources | Official OpenCPN Homepage
