in the toolbar, click on Options (the gear icon). select Plugins. you should see Dashboard. click on it, then click on the Enable button. set your preferences and bingo...

No dont have dashboard only have chart downloader and world magnetic model. No dashboard plugin.

the Dashboard plugin is included in the OCPN download. so it should be there just above WMM, grayed out until you enable it. if not, check your version of OCPN and download the latest 5.0 from opencpn.org. even if you have 5.0, try downloading it and reinstalling. you can keep all your current configurations while reinstalling.

if that doesn't work, it's above my pay grade and someone else will have to troubleshoot this for you.

Version 5 seems to require a payment. ? I thought open cpn was a free app. Confused as to who and why someone is charging and is it a one time purchase or an annual subscription?

Everybody has dashboard plugin. Go to Options->Plugins and enable Dashboard.

You can also change the font size of the status bar text. It is Options->User Interface settings. All of the user interface text has adjustable fonts and colors. So you can even change the color of the status bar to make it more visible. Also, you can make the status bar text bold if that makes it easier to read.

4.1.1028 is a branch from the very first beta of the Android version. Has not received any update nor bug corrections since then. It does not know about external plug-ins at all.


The 5.x series is supported and in sync with the desktop versions.
Maintained by Dave Register, the lead developer of OpenCPN.


There is a one time nominal fee at the play store for the app.

if you're on the computer version, it's free at opencpn.org. or are you on the tablet Android version? i believe that costs $10 but should be a free upgrade. if Android, be sure to get the one by Dave Register. that's the official version.

both computer and Android versions include dashboard in the download/install.

yes, one time charge and installs on as many Android devices you wish.


Helps Dave to enlarge his zoo of billions of different devices for example. Android can be very picky....

Hi All, a question? I have just uploaded the new tide harmonics files to my version (5.0 on a Mac) and can now see tides in my area, however, on right click to show the details, it gives a utc time difference of +08.00 but as I am in Thailand it should read UTC +07:00 so the data shown is out by one hour. My question is where can I change that to correct the error?
