How to connect AIS & Radar to OpenCPN?

I have the AIS and Grarmin plugins downloaded to Open CPN.
Currently AIS and Radar information is 'hard wired' to a Garmin GPSMAP 700. How do I get the AIS and Radar data to a MacBook Air running OpenCPN?

What are "AIS and Grarmin plugins" you are talking about?
To connect external data to OpenCPN you might use the connection settings in OpenCPN.
