Re: Hydrographic Survey Plugin

Ian ...

I can see why these soundings are interesting.

Thanks for your comment about the preferences. Not a lot of work has been done on this plugin recently.

I will need to take a closer look but for a quick conversion a spreadsheet could be used to change the values into feet. Let me know if you need some help with this.

Rather gave up on coding for tides. Again another look is needed. And the manual could do with some work.

Re: Hydrographic Survey Plugin

I interested in trying to add to the project. I have some free time at the moment. I don't know where to start in your source files though. I am trying to figure out where the tide calculations are done. Note, I do have some Java and C++ experience. I am by no means an expert in either.

I am still trying to setup the build environment in either Visual Studio 2022 or Apache Netbeans. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Ian ...

I forgot. It is quite an old plugin and does not use OpenGL. Try Options->Display->Advanced and disable the OpenGL.

You should be able to select the units you need in preferences.

Is there any progress towards real-time bathymetry mapping?

Not at the moment. I was able to fork Rasbats plugin and start editing some stuff but I am currently back at university taking a full course load. No time at the moment.

Mike, ian5142, hello!
Is there any progress on real-time bathymetry functionality?

Baikal..
For info, somewhat connected to Mike's plugin.

In next O release it will also be possible to see Meteo stations according to IMO Ais8_dac001_fi31 and and some data from US Ais8_dac367_fi33. There are some hydrographic data there as well. Development is ongoing. In Github master.

Offtopic.
Hakan, yes, I am following your work. This is a useful functionality, I saw a similar implementation in rosepointnav, it’s just a pity that there are very few such AIS ATON stations. I wonder if it is possible to make such a DIY station?

On topic my question remains unanswered

Are we talking about real-time adjustment of depths for mapping? Using tidal height at the moment of taking the sounding?

Rather busy trying to get stuff to work on Android at the moment.

Thanks for the answer!
At least to speed up bathymetry in real time, as is done on chart plotters,
